It looks like a 21st-century car; it doesn’t resemble an old piece of equipment. The Starlight grille is just like the DFSK. I think this is a Chinese heritage thing, like how they aim for efficient cooling. It has a 360-degree camera that tapers off towards the back. The 360-degree camera ensemble mode is a nice feature. This pearlescent white color allows you to see the flakes of the paint, and they’ve done a good job on it.
On the side, JDM wind deflectors and a brushed aluminum effect on the roof rail look nice. There’s a non-functional shark fin antenna, and you get 18-inch rims with 235/55 tires. These sleek tires are actually good, not bad at all. The Tiggo 8 Pro’s taillights extend all the way to the back, which is something I haven’t seen in any other car. You also have LED tail lights, LED brake lights, and faux exhaust vents with an artificial diffuser.
It has 195 horsepower from a turbocharged engine, producing 290 Nm of torque, making it maintenance-free and hassle-free. For reference, we recommend Shell Helix Ultra 5W30 synthetic engine oil. It’s a heavy-duty oil with good viscosity for turbocharged engines, unlike competitors’ oils. Using a better engine oil can ensure better mileage and is just better for your car overall.
The car offers great driving positioning with plenty of space. The technology, borrowed from Jaguar and Land Rover, includes remote operation and an aesthetic design language that feels very premium, not typically Chinese. I like the nickel garnish here and there, and the AC controls are fully touch-enabled, though manual control of the AC temperature is still possible. The voice assistant, “Hello Chery,” can control many things like opening the sunroof or adjusting the temperature.
Inside, there are LED room lights, a handle, sunshade controls, and a 12.3-inch visual display. You also have ambient lighting and wireless charging, with power-adjustable seats. For a Chinese car, it’s very decent.
The middle row is quite comfortable, with a reclining feature, allowing for a good, relaxed time. It feels spacious, with plenty of natural light coming in through the panoramic sunroof. I also checked the third row, and despite my height (below 5’11”), I didn’t feel any discomfort, which is good. While the headroom isn’t exceptional, it’s still reasonable.
In driving mode, the car offers an eco-mode, where throttle response is reduced for better fuel efficiency. I think this car, in the Bangladeshi market, is a solid proposition for a seven-seater, offering great fuel economy and extra features like an LCD dashboard and voice commands.
Overall, it’s a great car. The features are impressive for the price point, and from a driving perspective, it’s very decent. Compared to the DFSK, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro offers superior service and parts availability. The sound and camera quality are even better than cars like the Range Rover, with 4K HD resolution, which is excellent. I would definitely recommend this car!
